Recognition

Tom Brown was a all-round athlete who competed in many different sports, he excelled as education administrator at several schools in Columbus, Ohio and was phenomenal as a Junior High School Basketball Coach. With Miller Barnes Jr. as his assistant, Tom coached Champion Jr. High to three consecutive championships in 1955, 56 and 57. He was voted “Jr. High School Basketball Coach of the Year” and had coached such notables as: Gene Caslin and Eddie Ratliff. After five seasons of coaching at Champion, Brown compiled a 55-12 record with the Hornets.


Born in Dayton, Ohio, Tom graduated from Roosevelt HS then graduated from Central State University then earned a Masters in Education Administration from Ohio State. He played 4 years of high school baseball, 3 years of college football, 4 years of college baseball and 2 years of professional baseball with a Chicago White Sox farm club.



Career Highlights
